We made it to Santa Fe...barely. Tim had been pretty sick even before we left Berkeley. Unfortunately, he had a case of food poisoning (now understood to be food allergy to fish) just before we left to add to the ill-effects of his chemo treatment. It was touch-and-go to get to the airport, get on the plane, and get here. Over the past couple of weeks, he's lost almost 20 lbs. After the first three days, he's finally feeling somewhat better and trying to gain back some weight. But, all this has left him pretty debilitated and that really cut into our usual Santa Fe activity level. That plus the near 100 degree heat and major wildfires (not in Santa Fe but close enough to pollute the air with smoke).
Paul was doing pretty well but he, too had a couple down days with nausea and diarrhea plus the usual fatigue. Although we haven't done any of our usual New Mexico stuff like hiking photographing or eating out, we have been relaxing, reading and just enjoying the beautiful area. We also got to spend a few days with Tim's brother and wife who drove down from Colorado, as well as catching up with a few local friends here.
